Technical Safety harness question
«
on:

I purchased an aluminum carabiner that's rated at 29 KN closed. From doing a search on the web,I estimate that 29 KN is equal to 6519.2 lbs.
Is this strong enough for use with a safety harness?

It is strong enough but if it is not a locking carabiner don't use it for life line. Have seen them come open with the right twist on the rope.

it is plenty strong enough unless you weigh more than 6519lbs. They are made to stop climbers falling while climbing. some of those falls are 10 15 20ft or more.. As noted though be sure to position the gate so that it will not open accidentally
