Question about arrow setup?

Ok so I was talking to a friend of mine and we were thinking about how I shoot with 225 upfront of my CE. I shoot a 250 shaft, so after 20+ yards my arrows drop quite a bit. Now rather then shoot so much front weight what if I go with an all around heavier arrow and less up front. Just a 125 grain tip. Would this take away the big drop?

well if the overall weight of the arrow stays the same then there will be no "noticeable" change in trajectory.

In my opinion i think you are much better going with more Point weight, then distributing your weight throughout the arrow. Huge advantages to high FOC arrows.  

The heavier arrows are not an issue for me, you just learn the trajectory. You wont do much hunting past 20 yards either so its not that important.

Andy is right on. Heavy point weight does not cause your arrows to drop faster. Just the opposite. Heavy tips on hunting and target arrows is a good thing. Including my insert I shoot 400 gr. up front.

How heavy is your arrow over all and what is your bow poundage?

Go with the weight up front if you can.

Is your draw weight low enough you could shoot a Heritage 150 with less point weight? That is the way to a flatter trajectory.

I think I am going to just setup for hunting, I need to learn my arrow drop so I make a clean kill.

Are you simply saying that I should just shoot a lighter arrow? Your talking just lose some weight in my arrow to let it fly farther? Im looking to get a 50 pound bow that shoots nice.

Tator what poundage of bow are you shooting? When I shot CE 250's with 225gr tips out of a 55#@28" recurve it didn't drop much more than the wood arrows I am shooting now with 160gr tips at 20yds. Now when you go back to 30yds you can see a difference.

I'm talking about when I move back. But I decided that I will not be hunting from that far ever so I'm not worried about it. I have been shooting 3d a lot and the guy I shoot with likes to shoot 30 to 35 yards at times. He shoots pretty light up front and overall arrows. I am getting a 50 pound bow now.

I'm just trying to get a setup ready for when I start shooting it.

Thinking about all the different setups, but I'm going with the hunting setup again so a high point weight.
