tannery help
« on: January 05, 2011, 10:25:00 AM »
HELP!  For years I have sent my deer hides to WB Place in Wisconsin.  I went on line today to get mailing info to send hides in and find out that they closed in August.  Any of you have suggestions where I can get some hides done?  I am looking for buckskin, not hair on.  Thanks

Moyle maybe.  I don't know if they do hair off or not.

You could also check if theres a local fur salon in the area? Most of the tan hide in their shops. or you could do it yourself?..its not real hard.

This question came up a couple months ago and I was directed to Rocky Mountain Tanners in Colorado. I spoke to them about a moose hide I need done, hair off. They come well recommended and I have a favorable impression following the phone call. Will send the hide this coming monday.

Give Ubers of Owattonna MN a try.  I am satisfied with everything I have gotten from them.

I use Moyle's.  They're really fast and do a great job.  Good prices, too.

I sent some furs out today to Tubari Limited, in NJ. They were recommended to me, but I don't know how they will come out. My friend loves their work.

Thanks for all the replies!  I have made some calls and I think I know why WB PLace is closed!  I was doing hair off with them for about $35 per hide.  I am getting quotes for $75 per hide from some of these others.  At this rate I can no longer afford to tan hides as a keepsake.  Thanks for the help anyway.
