Thanks for looking. Just got back into traditional, bought back my Widow SAX from a friend. Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the Wensel Woodsman broadheads, Woodsman Elite or the Trailmaker. They all appear similar, but I have seen some negative feedback on the Woodsman series....bending, breaking, etc. The Trailmaker appears stronger but I have no idea about it.

Back when I was into traditional I shot Wensel Woodsmans (+ Bear Razorheads).

Would like to see what some of the more experienced folks think. Thanks in advance.

I think the majority would say the Woodsman is a top notch head I currently are using them and I have shot them into 2X4's and never had a bent tip or break. And they fly like bullets.JMHO
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a
difference in the world, but the Marines don’t have that problem.

Woodsmen has great popularity. Haven't heard much on the Trailmaker. Some comments on another thread was the advertised cutting width and actual cutting width on the Woodsmen didn't match.

I would suggest you consider the VPA Terminator. It's non vented and should be stronger and quieter. Have a look at them at

Cant really go wrong? I just reverted back to original woodsmans, they were always my favorites. Now I have a pack that is not hissing at all, which drove me from them in the beginning.

Got non vented WW175s as well. truly except for vents or non vent your comparing apples to apples.

I am shooting the Woodsman 160 grain Elite which is unvented Love them.Shot 2 blade heads Magnus and Zwickey for many years.Shot a small buck with a Woodsman and was impressed to say the least. If you want a lighter head shoot the Woodsman 125 and put tape over the vents.

I am currently using the 175gr ww elite and have been pleased.  I Did break one off at the threads trying to get it out of a pine tree but surely it must have been defective to begin with to miss the target like it did!!
