I will take a look at those bows. Been hearing a lot about the limbs being quiet.
But it would be hard to get me to stop shooting my Zipper. It's my go-to recurve.

But my ancestors ARE from Scotland!

Maybe someone will get one that's 45# @ 30" and get tired of it.

Nakohe, we put it off til there's a chill in the air and frost on the ground.  I figure the move will be about the second week of July.  Do you think it'll be cooled off by then?           Maybe I'll just duct tape myself to a 25,000 btu a/c unit and sleep til October.      

You guys should have a hard look at these bows.  Eye candy, to be sure, but amazing shooters, too.  I hope Pete Ward has his review of a Black Douglas recurve up soon!

I bought three used Borders. One older one, then later two of the newer styles. The last used one I bought had HEX4 limbs which at the time was their top-of-the line limbs. After buying it and shooting it awhile I was so impressed by the way it shot I was convienced to buy a new one, so I sold the first two I bought to finance the new one I wanted to purchase. I bought an end-of-line riser Sid had which turned out to be one of the best looking risers I have ever seen and a set of their new HEX4 W GLX limbs. While waiting for them, which took 12 weeks, I spotted a set of XP30 limbs with bamboo cores Sid was closing out on their web site and purchased them also. The bow some of you saw on an earlier post has become one of my top favorites. The newer HEX4 W GLX limbs turned out to be shorter than I ordered so Sid is replacing them with the newer HEXV W GLX limbs that I am currently waiting for. There are a number of really good shooting recurve bows out there these days and I am here to tell you that the Border Black Douglas is right up there with the best of them. I believe Pete Ward's review will bear that out. They like most of the other high end bows are up there in price. Part of the reason being the devaluation of the US dollar over there and as knife river said the shipping is very expensive. It cost me $80 to get mine here.
     I realize that not everybody likes the same things in a bow, especially in the grip area. The grips on the Borders I have owned are a little bit thicker than my other bows, but since I shoot with an open hand I don't have a problem with it. I find no difficulty at all switching from the Border to any of my other bows. It is as fast, smooth, quiet, and forgiving as any bow I have ever shot. There will be one hanging on my bow rack for many years to come.
