I.D. this bow please
« on: January 21, 2011, 07:10:00 PM »
I met a fella at the bow shop today and he had brought this recurve in for a new string. He didn't have any info on brand or age, all it had on it was 60" 52#. Anybody recognize this bow brand?

Looks kind of like a Preditor.

I've never seen a 1 piece Predator? I think Ron built for Darton I believe. Reminds me of a Bear Kodiak. Lots of guys on here a lot more in the know than me though. Looks to be in very nice condition.

Also reminiscent of an Asbel era one-piece Bighorn.  Arrow shelf is much different though.  It was radiused on the Bighorn, as was the side plate area a little. This one looks flat as a pancake.  I suspect this is someone's homemade bow.  Not a bad effort, except for the arrow shelf.

I think a predator would have a shelf that is lower to your hand

He wouldn't sell, I asked the same thing. I then asked what he intended to do with it and he replied "Well hell I'm gonna shoot a deer with it"! I'll post a pic on the History page also and see what comes up. My thought was a Predator also but I have never seen a 1pc either.
