Stay in close like others have said already, but don't move back further than you can keep a tight group say 12yds?

(Having a well tuned bow helps)

When i first started shooting a recurve all the time in 92, i practiced every evening for hours at a time and i would stay in close say 10yds. I wouldn't stop till i could put 6 arrows inside a skoal can. It took a few days, but i'd do it over and over again once i started getting them all inside it.

Shooting well up close builds confidence.

I didn't read all the way through so not sure if it's been said already.  You are fortunate to just be starting since you haven't picked up any bad habits.  Focus on form and study Terry's clock on form.  With perfect form the accuracy will come naturally.  I wish I would've started out that way since I'm still working on perfecting my form and getting rid of bad habits that I picked up when I started out.
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

Concentrate on form, Nip bad habits like target panic in the butt   :deadhorse:   before they get imbedded in the brain"ask me how I know"

When I first started I found shooting hedge balls and apples from a tree made you focus better. This made me improve more than anything. I also like to stick a balloon on my 3D targets to make me focus.
