Black widow arrow help
«

I just ordered a black widow PCH X. It has a 28 inch draw length with 57 lbs limbs and am wanting to get some surewood shafts and don't know what spine I should order. I am going to be shooting a 160 grain snuffer for turkey this spring. I have heard that you have to go heavy on the spine for black widows. Just would like to know what to order because when the widow gets done it will be really close to turkey season and would like to have my arrows ready to go. Thanks

My findings are similar to Larry.
I tell my friends it's due to the extreme power the Widow has but they don't seem to buy that

I'd wait and see what weight the bow comes in at, you could end up from 55#-59# with +/- 2# and that's enough range to make quite a difference in your arrows.

Remember these bows are cut 3/16" past center. That will impact your tune.

Ronald-I would suggest you check out Stu Miller's "Dynamic Spine Chart". If you use this tool it would greatly help you tune and adjust your new bow as needed! I struggled with my new Widow most of the last spring and summer, then asked Stu for some help and had my bow shootin' like a champ the next day after making two changes to my set up! Good Luck!

I concur with Kennyb - I love Stu's calculator! That's why that 3/16th's is so important1

Also, the 3/16" isn't including the side plate. So, don't enter 3/16" past center into Stu's calc. Enter slightly less than that, depending on the thickness of your strike/side plate. Makes a HUGE difference!
I like to buy arrows slightly on the weak side so I can fix them by building out the side plate to make them act stiffer. But don't go too weak if you're wanting a very high FOC weight.
