Frustrated with riser slap
« on: January 31, 2011, 06:03:00 AM »
Y'all,

Here I go again with a new bow.  I have built an Osage Orange sudbury bow at 50lbs @ 29", 68" n-n.  Since I switched to left handed to take advantage of my left eye dominence my draw has gone up an inch to 30".  There is a delta of approximately 20 degrees limb twist between upper and lower limb.  It is a fairly fast bow with a small amount of hand shock.  I shoot off my finger and shoot three fingers under.  I have shoot various spined arrows with brace heights from 5 3/4 " to 7 1/4".  The best bare shaft planning with three bare arrows and three fletched arrows is 55-60 cedar shafts, 23/64", 32" long, 190 grain heads.  They shoot at the same place.  Here is my issue.  I get an arrow slap about 70% of the time and have not been able to elimiinate the slap.  I get good accuracy.  Any thoughts, i.e. is this the product of the Sudbury off center riser, twisted limbs, bad form, etc. Changing brace heights and spines does nothing noticable except arrow grouping patterns between bare and fletched shafts.
