Arrow Selection Help
« on: February 05, 2011, 12:15:00 PM »
I am shooting a Great Northern Ghost 51#@28.  I only draw the bow 26.5 inches.  I want to shoot a Goldtip arrow.  What spine do you recommend, how long, what insert, and grain point?

Depends how much tip weight you want to use. 15/35 and 35/55 would work, depending on tip weight.

Both arrows at 28" w/ 50gr inserts.
15/35 w/ 150gr tip total weight is 435grs.
35/55 w/ 200gr tip arrow weighs 515grs.

If I was shooting 35/55, what would you suggest for tips and inserts and how long to have the arrow?

So a 50 grain insert plus 200 grain point.  250 total?

You are shooting my stats. I use a 28" GT3555 and a 175 grain head with a standard insert.

Yes, I didn't know all the stats for the bow so I had to "guesstimate" the riser centercut and type/strand count on your string. If your closer to center cut,or use a thin, skinny fastflight string you can go lighter on point weight according to stu's calculator.

OK, that's what I put in. I also used a 12 strand fast flaght string. If you used a string w/ more strands or a b50 string that will make the arrow need a little more tip weight or a little longer arrow.
