Let's see those selfnocks/Primitive arrows.
« on: February 06, 2011, 11:51:00 AM »
Building arrows and wanted some ideas on different ways to make self nocks.

Here's one that I came up with on a piece of Surewood shafting(Obviously it's lacking the sinew wrap)-

I like the flat spot for the fingers to sit in.

Let's see some more ideas/styles.

Carved out that way or steamed back?
I'll try one both ways.

An extra string in the hip pocket could save a hunt and make the day.

Here are a couple of ways to do it. The first one is just wrapped with dental floss, and the second is reinforced with a spline of hardwood. In this case, I think it's rosewood.

The picture is a little overexposed but here is how I do them with a horn insert.
