Another spine question
« on: February 15, 2011, 01:34:00 PM »
My 'puter is down and I can't get Stu's calculator to work correctly on my phone. So I'm hoping someone here would be willing to help me figure out the correct spine for some woodies. Here are the particulars:

64" r/d longbow, 54# @ 27" (my draw length). The shelf is cut 1/8" + of center. Dyna 97 bowstring. I would like to use 145 grain heads.

I prefer a 28" arrow. I will be using either sitka spruce from Hildebrand or douglas fir from Surewood (plan to try both).

Thanks.

I got 56.9/56.1 with 28.25"bop,4-4" fletch with 60# shafts
  OR
      55.3/56.1 with 28.5"bop,3-5" fletch with 60# shafts.

You'll love the Surewoods!

Oops! You're right, I forgot to include the 5" fletch size I prefer.

Thanks for the info. It's sincerely appreciated.

Didn't use Stu's calculator, but based on 50 years of shooting wood, I'd say 55-60# would work as will 60-65#.  Given the heavier head and fast flite string, I'd lean toward the heavier shafts. Good luck.
