Simmons broadheads on bigger game
« on: February 16, 2011, 06:55:00 PM »
I know a lot of you love the Simmons broadheads on deer but how do they work on elk and moose?  I would think with their larger cutting diameter that you might want a tad more arrow weight or lbs.  Maybe I am just paranoid.

Thanks

Eric

The owner of Simmons Sharks, Dave, shot thru a bull with his 175gr Tiger shark and 53# Centaur. I believe his total arrow weight is around 510grs.

Here's a pic of Dave's bull.  I believe he netted 305".

I shot my 2010 bull with a 165gr landshark from a 57# longbow on a carbon arrow.  The penetration was a little less than what I had hoped for but still plenty adequate, did a lot of damage and resulted in a clean kill...Shawn

I don't believe it was with a trad bow, but I think Joelle Bates shot a Cape Buffalo with a Simmons head.  Don't get much bigger than that!

Thanks, for the information.  I found the KME does a wonderful job on sharpening them.
