Just checked mine and it's at 7-5/8". Shooting smooth and quiet.
The Ben Pearson Hunter (Model 709), was made from 1965-67. Mine's a '65. The first number of the serial is the last digit of the year it was made. Brace height should be between 7 3/4" - 8 1/2". Riser is zebrawood with brown glass on the limbs. Suggested selling price was $50. In 1968 the model number was changed to 7090
