The older I get the simpler I want my life to be. I guess that is what drew me to hunt with a traditional bow. So I take it to my equipment, I just traded my BW PSAX for 3 Great Northern bows, a Ghost, a Critter Gitter and a Bushbow. Simple, rules in my book and when you have a simple bow that just performs like a Great Northern, I love it. I swear my Super Ghost is the fastest bow I have ever shot, and it's so damn quiet. Now if I could just get the deer to simply stand still...........

I'm starting to fell like you. I want archery to be simpler and less complicated with my tackle. Thats why one piece bows they are lighter in the hand.

I'm probably not considered one of the "old guys" or at least I hope not at age 42, but I am also leaning more toward the simpler the better philosophy myself.
As a matter of fact, I just put my wheelie up for sale on a couple different websites. I thought that was something I would never do, but I felt like it was time. It hardly got any range time and only made it into the field about 3 times this year.
I just get so much more pleasure out of the simplicity of a stick and string, no gadgets, nothing to come loose, just my bow and an arrow.

It's liberating to simplify things.

I am 57 now and have a lot of broken parts on my frame some from Uncle Sam and some from life's choices. I feel them more as I go to the hills, but I still go and will, until nothing works. Keeping it simple works for me and Traditional Archery has always been like coming home for me. I look forward to every Fall to chase the elk and deer and still find the relaxation of stumping or shooting here at home. I've got my favorite go to stick also (55# @28 Saxon, American traditions Longbow), it's therapy and one of life's simple joys. Let me know if you figure out how to keep the deer still! Best to ya!

Simplicity allows me to concentrate on what is most important to me. In archery it is bowhunting with stick and string, being able to make my own gear, and the accomplishment of putting wild game on my families plates with what I have made and what the good Lord has provided. It gives me peace.

It's funny how we all begin to think alike as time goes on!  I'm 57 and after years of mainly shooting recurves I too went to the longbow.  I'm making my own knives now and hunting from the ground.  I've been blessed with great health and haven't broken too much doing stupid things so I still shoot moderate weight bows in the 75-80# range but enjoy every second of it all.  I still feel the excitement of the hunt and the clean kill of an animal but I can go home after letting something walk & still feel great about being able to this thing I enjoy so much.
     I look back to when I started all of this and how the treestand hadn't come out yet, no compounds and "anybody" who took a deer displayed it on top of his car for all to see and be awe struck with.  What a life!  I like it being that simple.

Just shot all three I traded for and man I just love those sweet simple lines. As far as changing my sig, nope, I love that Zipper, and it's the tuned down Hunter version so it's still simple.

I'm 48 and feel the same way, don't get me wrong, I enjoy this iPad to be able to check out this forum, but each year I find myself enjoying the peace & quiet of no cell phones, no iPad or other complicated equipment. Life seems to be goin 100 mph, but when your out hunting it is so peaceful and quiet. I sold my wheelie bow last year and also got rid of my treestands. I look forward to trying to outsmart em eye to eye.
