WHAT FLETCH GLUE OVER OIL FINISH?
« on: June 12, 2007, 12:01:00 PM »
I recently finished a half doz. woodies with tung oil finish...did I do wrong here? it looks great, but what can I use for fletch glue over this oil finish?
MAybe I should seal THAT with wipe-on poly first?
What glue would work there as well?

I don't have any fletch tape...I expect that would work anywhere...

I use that same finish and use DUCO cement glue. I have not had a problem. Just glue them on over the tung oil finish.

Do you have a WAL-MART up there? If you have a WAL-MART, you should have Duco. 97 cents American is what it costs here.

Kustom King Archery or 3 Rivers Archery are both on line and carry Duco. And to your question about other glues, I have only had success with Duco.

I can't find Duco in the Walmarts up here. EASTERN, check out Herb's Archery in the sponsor's list. Not sure where in Canuckistan you're at, but Herb is in NewBrunswick. He carries Duco.
Also, super glue works just dandy on oil finish. I've used it for the small amount of arrows I fletch. But Duco comes in a bigger tube.
Whatever you do, don't use FletchTite. I tried, feathers just fell off.

I've never found duco in Canada either.  Did order some from a small archery supplier once, they have since gone under though.  I think next time I crest arrows with tremclad I may just try superglue.

I would also really like to try Goat tuff, anyone in Canada carry that?
