Choosing Bow #2
« on: February 23, 2011, 06:18:00 PM »
Right now I am shooting a Mid 1960's Bear Kodiak that is 45# @28". I really like that bow and am convinced that I really wanna continue pursuing the traditional style of archery.

I am just curious if ya guys had suggestions of another bow that would compliment the one I already have. I have been watching many bows on **** and other forums but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Can't afford a brand new custom bow or anything of that nature yet but am open to mid range bows,

Just looking for some of your .02

Thanks

My first recurve was a 50lb 1970's Bear Grizzly which I took my first deer with traditional equipment with. I liked that bow so much that I then bought a 55lb Bear Cheyenne which for the money I felt like it was a good deal. Bought the bow brand new about 10 years or so ago and still shoot it every now and again. I also had and old 45lb Wing Archery Red Wing Hunter that shot pretty good. The best advice I can give to you is go to an archery shop where you can actually hold the bow and maybe even shoot it. One mans taste is alot different than anothers.

Go to all the shoots that you can. Try a lot of bows... for free! Vendors WANT you to shoot their bows, and most folks are proud to let you run your arrows through their beloved bows.

Like HH and Killie said.

The good news is you have a bow to use now. Take your time and find what "YOU" want next.

What Killdeer said. It's the only way you are going to find out what you like and what feels good to you, then you can make a decision. Good luck and glad your enjoying Trad Archery.

I agree with killdeer, most archers would be glad to let you shoot thier bow. Get out to some shoots and try a few before you decide on one.

Good luck...

Check out Maddgog Archery, custom bows $175-$375 can not beat the price. They are beautiful, two in the family so far and one on order.
