Been using Red and Yellow Krylon for my crowns. I find it covers best using there base coat first. Then I dip in a sealer.

I just got done doing a test arrow using some flat white I picked up at WalMart. You know what...you guys are right...it came out pretty darn nice. I sprayed two coats about 10 minutes apart and will do the first Poly tonight. Man this is easier than using my dip tubes

Here's some plain Easton Aluminum 2018 Swifts (4 fletched) with a bit of spray paint and crest to spruce 'em up a bit

Jason gave me the idea but I've always liked that type of spray crown that was popular on Ben Pearson arrows long ago

Well I finished spraying them tonight. I haven't made up woodies in a few months and forgot how good it feels. I only got 10 1/2 arrows done on one can of spray paint. How much does it take you guys? Instead of spraying one at a time I could probably put them together and get a full dozen out of a can. The poly is drying on them now out on the clothes line. They came out real purty...can't wait to flectch em up.

I think I get more than a dozen out of a can. I found for colors a light coat of white to start then the color works great - light coats. I tape the edge and have a cardboard box with deep v-notches to sit the arrow in and spin it and protect it from overspray. Fletch tape with a small glue dot fore and aft makes refletching pretty easy. Doesn't really mess anything up. Steve

I also spray white before the color coat. The color comes out much brighter and you use less paint.
I did a 1/2 doz of old xx78's for my daughter and I messed one up after fletching was completed. Carefully and SLOWLY I pulled the screwed up feather off without harming the paint. Try to pull the tape/feather off at as close to a right angle to the shaft- as possible.

What kind of fletching glue are you guys using? I tried fletch tape for the first time a while back and had a couple of feathers start lifting up.

Are any of you guys using gasket lacquer over the Krylon ?
If gasket lacquer is compatible would the steps be as follows.
1. Stain and dip shaft in gasket lacquer.
2. Spray Krylon
3. Dip in gasket lacquer.
Thanks for any suggestions.

These are sprayed and crested. Some colors work better with a white undercoat then the color.

Will Duco work with the Poly finish coat?
