fletch distance from nock?
«
on:

Is there general consensus as to where best to place fletching in relation to the nock. Is there better tiller when up against the nock? I would imagine this from good test results. Or the ½ or more gap most often noted just to reduce interfering with the feather?
Thanks for u’r thoughts.

Enough room for finger/glove clearance.

My 4" shield cuts are 2.1" from the nock throat and have no issues with flight.

I do mine at 3/4" from nock.Plenty of room so my finger will touch fletch.

Just have to keep the front of the feathers off the arrow shelf.
I like mine about 1 and 1/4 from the nock throat.

The further to the rear, the better it steers.Leave room for finger clearance.

I fletch mine so the cock feather just touches the tip of my nose, (about 1-1/4 in.) for an extra anchor point. I shoot 3 under.

I don't believe it makes a difference, as long as you have enough clearance for your fingers.

I leave enough room to clear my fingers + 1/8 incase I have to put a new nock on . Don't want to lose a good arrow for lack of room to re nock

I draw, anchor and release with my index finger laid on top of the shaft and 1" to 1 1/4" from the end of the shaft to the back of the fletching provides clearance for my finger and flight is excellent.

Feather to knock distance does not affect tiller of bow.

I had to check: 5/8" up from the top of the nock taper (third mark on my Bitzenburger clamps).
You want to make sure the fletching is not too far forward if you use a low brace height as if the fletching hits the rest while the nock is still on the string it will cause flight issues. If you watch a slow-motion film of the release you can see the string goes quite a ways forward of the at-rest position.

Same with me. As close as possible. Usually ends up at 3/8".
