I'm heading to Colorado in the middle of September on a elk bow hunt and was wondering what camo pattern will work best ? We will be hunting in the mountains in units 23 . ASAT camo or other ?

they will do fine. There is a bunch of varied terrain you will likely see, oak brush, open dry areas, dark pine timbered ridges, open tall poplar/aspen areas with green lush vegetation.
I like to use Predator (brown or green) or Skyline, or ASAT. Poplars start changing colors around 10th or 15th of September.

bgbuck....Like a lot of units in CO in late Sept, Unit 23 has pockets of dark timber, aspens turning, open meadows that will likely be light brown and scrub oak turning. Then add on top of that the chance of snow. You could find elk in any of those different areas. It's tough to say one pattern will cover all conditions.
Dress in layers and be ready for anything is the only advice I can offer.

ASAT is definitely the one I would go with, blends in anywhere.

Focus on how you move and use terrain features, not what you are wearing.

I would check out Enigma Camo. I was in Colorado last year mid September (Unit 45). Quite a few guys in camp had it on. I was very impressed. Quality was as good as I've seen. So impressed I bought a suit home with me to Australia.

I have hunted Colorado for 22 years and since in the middle of September the temperatures start to drop you can need some wool.I find King of the Mountain Autumn Brown very effective as a pattern and as fabbric. It will last a life long and you wouldn't be displeased.Blowdown works well too.

I use my predator for everything, just make sure you layer. It can be from the 70's to close to single digits at night. There will most likely be rain as well. As mentioned before, movement is far more important. Use what makes you confident, and have FUN!!

Any camo but the dark blob stuff will be fine. It is the wind and the movement that gets you. That being said, I like ASAT and predator.

I've switched from ASAT to Cabelas Outfitter camo. It goes from dry open to dark timber well and the MicroTech Lite fabric is great for hot hunting. Besides, you can pick it up at great prices from Cabelas in all sorts of pieces.

Any open pattern will work, but steer clear of wearing cotton.

Being a cheap skate, I've always just bought T- shirts. Buy them big enough to fit over other stuff and you can afford a pattern for every situation.
Having said that, I've had a lot of experience with Predator Fall Gray. My huntin bud Terry Green prefers the Spring Green.
I've hunted with him in enough situations to be convinced that his choice works real well summer or winter, mountain or swamp.
The Fall Gray is nice, but a little "bright" for my tastes.

As said above, lots of diverse terrain in elk country. Layers for the weather and the pattern, don't have all your exterior wear the same pattern. Use different colors/ patterns to help break up your silhouette. Good luck and TRY to not get on the wrong side of the wind!!
