Scent Elimination brought to new heights (or lows)
« on: June 13, 2007, 07:17:00 AM »
There's a bit of a story to this.

They found a tumor in my bowel back in late February which they immediately took out. They got me on chemo for 6 months after my cut healed.

Anyhow, one doctor has put me on a 6 month diet that is supposed to be really good for my bowel, immune system, etc. etc.

Here it is: No meat (including fish), no sweets (sugar, anything; the only thing I'm allowed as a sweetener is unpasturized honey) and no diary.
Basically I can eat fruits, vegetable and eggs. (There is going to be one heck of a barbecue when the 6 months is up!!!)

Anyhow, consequently, I have pretty much no detectable (to human noses) body odor! No bad breath (unless I'm into the garlic) no pit odor no foot odor nothing! Even when I sweat!

I'm thinking I might go on this diet a month before deer season in the future!

BEst of luck with the treatment and prayers for complete healing...

I've read many articles over the years to eliminate spicey food and meat cause our breath and sweat smell like a predator if we eat meat! Spicey food are self-explanitory.

I love to go undetected, but don't eat meat? Course, way prices are going... that might resolve it'self on it's own shortly!  :)
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

except for the no meat thing this sounds like a pretty decent diet... well giving up dairy would be pretty tough for me.  Hope your recovery goes well!

Best wishes for your recovery.

Thanks for reporting on this. I always wondered if "going vegan" for a short while before hunting season would help with the scent issue.
Directions: Hike, camp, hunt, fish, wash, rinse, repeat.

don't eat meat?   ahh stalking the wild tomato or carrot can't be much fun!  I have heard that vegans do have a flatus problem.
Get well and just becuase you can't eat meat now doesn't mean you can't stock or freezer.  You may even shoot better with no pressure to fill a freezer

T,
Thats an old NDN belief, and custom. No meat or smoke, before a hunt.Sweat lodge and other scents rubbed on.I also believe that it was to deprive the Hunter,of real food,so's ta make em Hungry. When yer hungry,ya hunt harder.
Target archery is seeing how far away you can get and still hit the bull's eye. Bowhunting is seeing how close you can get and never miss your mark.

Throw in some chlorophyl pills and you should be able to knife one.

I read that Ishi would not eat meat or fish for three days before a hunt.  So I would say there is something to it.

Ahh, I could probably handle 3 days. I went a little longer back in the college / poor as dirt days. But six months!    :scared:    Traxx, I'll bet you do hunt harder too... mouth watering for a nice steak when you see that deer.  :D
