Picked up a 1957 Bear
« on: March 06, 2011, 11:41:00 AM »
I just picked up a 1957 Bear Cub.  The bow is 62" long and has a draw weight of 47@28.  I shot the bow before I bought it and was surprised.  It shoots very nice. It is quite, little to no hand shock and it just has a great feel in the hand. The bow is in very good shape and still has the original leather handle on it. I feel like I am holding a piece of history when it is in my hand. It is my new treasure. I am going to use this bow to full fill what has been a quest of mine.  I have wanted to and now will take a deer with a bow that is as old as I am.  I will then retire the bow for the most part.  Love the old bows!

Congrads on the 57 Bear, a classic and a nice piece of history... if only it could talk, I would love to hear the hunting stories it could tell. I was 10 yrs old in 57!

Hello and i see the bow is 1 year younger than you   :readit:  , now i myself was born in 1957 so if you send that bow to me i will kill a hog with it and then send it back that way it will have killed somthing with a shooter as old as it.    :bigsmyl:

Really though nice find  and i cant wait to see the deer you take with it and welcome to the campfire O we need to see some pics of that bow.

I can't say the same for my 57 Bear Polar. Excellent shooter but that bow will rattle the fillings out of your head. No matter the brace height adjustment.

Bear Cub, sounds great. Very great piece of history. I have been looking at an older Bear LB 1958 in a pawn shop. Needs a little work.  Rough finish and duct tape on limbs and riser.  If I can talk him down, next trip to town I will pick up.

Hey Lunar-Tic. Hearing what you had to say about the Polar has made my day. Felling a little down because I missed out on one on e-bay. Got out bid on a 1956 60# draw in the last 4 seconds. But now I don't feel so bad.  Still would have been a cool bow.

Maybe its just my Polar or my set up. It is a very accurate shooting bow but I wouldn't give a lot for one in an auction wolfeyes.
