Iron Buck.  It is a piece of stee in the shape of a buck (about half-size) with a 3" or 4" hole in the vitals ... miss the buck and you get a splintered arrow.

A moving deer on pullies attached to a rope than comes "running" in front of you. Must have the rope elevated.  Attach a rope to pull it back up the hill then let go.

"Three rings of death".  Weld three circles together in a clover pattern and weld this to a stake.  Circles are about 4-6" in diameter.  Blow up ballons and make then "stay" in the circles.  Set up three to four and the first one to pop all three ballons is the winner.  Accuracy AND speed.  Oh, you may loose some arrows if you hit rings dead on.

String Walk. Must walk a prescribed line find the targets (3D) in a certain amount of time. Once you take a step forward you cannot back up.

Joe,

This one has two one gallon milk jugs full of water.  They are connected by one paracord or small rope through a pulley on each end of the tee.  The more holes you make in your jug, the quicker it rises as the water drains.
First to the top is the winner.  2009 WSTR ran this as a ladder tournament, two shooters per tee and a 50-50 payout or whatever you want to do.

Joe,

Over on the right side of the photo, you can see an easel with a large pad of paper to keep track of the ladders.  This is a good idea to have in order to keep track of things, especially if there are a lot of shooters.  Dry erase boards would be too easy to mess up if someone smeared one.  Paper and markers will stay put.

Our club had a 12 foot long piece of channel. On each end of the channel was a piece of flat steel about 3 ft long. The flat still was welded to the channel ends that made the whole thing look like a large Capital (I) We welded round mild steel rods 2 per end sticking up. The rods were welded a certain distance apart one end would allow a 3d turkey decoy to slide over the rods the other end would allow a 3d coyote to slide over the rods.

In the center of the channel was a welded 3/4 inch rod that also had a pulley welded to it.

This rod slipped down through two bearings that were bolted to a short piece of channel iron. This channel was welded to the base plate and had gussets for support.

There was a base plate made and had an electrical motor standing on end with the pulley pointing up on it. The motor was mounted to a short piece of channel iron with slotted hole to position the motor in the right location.

When turned on you had a miniature merry- go- round with a turkey being chased by a coyote. Object was to kill the coyote.

At $1.00 for 3 shots it brought in some good money for the club. Some guys would get so frustrated they would spend $20.00

i just went to a 40 target shoot that had several interesting targets. The moving hog on a cable and back along a rope on the ground untill you had a shot through the brush, once you stopped you could not go forward. One was an insert on a rope attatched  to a limb about 20 feet high,  when released you had to shoot it before it started swinging back to where it began. Another was a big stump with about a 6" X 6"  hole cut all the way through with a chainsaw, Had to shoot through the hole to hit the turkey on the other side of the stump. Then the old dropa marble in the sloping pvc pipe and the arrow had to hit the target before the marble hit the bucket. Target was about 20 feet. One target you had to shoot lefty if you are a righty and vice versa. (that gave everybody problems) One was a skunk at the other end of a 12 foot section of 10 inch pipe. There was several more but the possibilities are endless.

I always liked a target we shot at were you had to shoot through a hole in the lattice to get to the target. The lattice was the thinner stuff so even if you missed the hole you could blast through the lattice and hit. Now this was part of a Tuff-man shoot I believe and I think B-huntingfool is looking for more novelty shots were arrow damage would be minimal! Shots were people can shoot multiple times are more appealing for the money, like the milk jugs and 3 balloons or skeet. Aerials have become real popular of late also.
