I seem to remember someone posting a chart they had put together for the various size aluminum shafting that works best for footing various carbon shaft sizes....[ in my case, Carbon Vapor 400's and GT5575's ]
Can someone help point me in the right directon? ... I have done a couple searches with negative results.

Gene, You're going to love how tough this makes your carbons. If you hit a hard target like a Moses Lake Rock straight on with your arrow it will bounce back and still be good as new. You will want extra field points and nocks though. The field points get flattened and the nocks go flying.

How about CX Predator shafts? I didn't see those on the list.
BTW- When you put the aluminum footing on the carbon shaft, do you just sleeve it on and use the original insert for the carbon as usual, or does the aluminum insert replace the carbon insert?
Thanks!

Semo, the insert goes in like any other carbon arrow. The aluminum acts as a collar around the shaft end to keep the insert from acting as a wedge to split the end of the shaft on hard, frontal impacts. That little band of aluminum at the front increases the strength of the carbons a lot.

I gotcha, thanks Jim.
I tried to slip a piece of 2117 over the CX Predators and it's a tad too big. What's the next step down? A 2016?

2117's on the Beeman 500's. Something worth mentioning,South Missisippi Bowhunter and I found that sanding or filing a bevel on the fore and aft end strongly reduces slippage. My Beemans are my best flyers but when it comes to hare core stumping they are second to most brands even with footing they still just snap further back.

Possum Head, thanks for the 2117 tip and I couldn't agee more with you on stumping with the Bemans, even if they're footed. My son busted half a dozen yesterday.Think I'll get him some CX Heritage 90's for stumping.

I have always had good luck with Carbon Express shafts, especially the Maximas they are tough as nails!
Another shaft that's hardly ever mentioned is the Bass Pro brand Carbon Supremes. I have literally put those shafts through some of the worst abuse imaginable and they are still holding up. Relatively inexpensive too.
