Turkey Bow?
« on: April 02, 2011, 10:25:00 AM »
Well Turkey season is underway here in North Texas and it's time to put together a bow.  OK, it's a little late but heck I'm busy building other peoples bows.

So this morning I found a set of shop limbs on the shelf mediums, painted black,  45 @ 28 - 19.  Hmmm be about 47 on the Dalaa riser . ..perfect.

Now where did I put the riser?

Going to use a string tracker for sure so have to build a mount today for that.

Should be ready to go when someone calls and has a turkey that needs killing

BTW I'm going to tune up my moose arrows on this rig.  Around 700 gr with 160 Snuffers.  No penetration problems for sure.

Interesting!  Wingnut, where can you shoot a moose with a bow less than 50 lbs?  Especially with 160 Snuffers.  "no penetration problems for sure."  Am I missing something?  I'm planning a mooose hunt and using 50 lbs at 29 and a 160 STOS.  Have not figured arrow weight yet and I'm stilled worried.

Wingnut how are you going to attach your string tracker? I'm thinking about getting one for this season.

These are my moose arrows not my moose bow. LOL Besides I have a 30.5" draw and this bow will be about 52 on my fingers.

Should be in great shape unless you hit the turkey's shield.

Best of luck.

To connect your string tracker on the bow, I use something called a Traditional Gadget Adapter.  3 Rivers has them originally make by Great Northern.  You may need a shim to even things out.

Yep the shield is always a concern on the Rio Gobbler for sure.  I'm going for a high mount on the tracker after Rusty and did a bunch of testing with low and high mounts.  Found that the low mount was the worst for dragging the arrow down.
