New youth bow...
« on: April 03, 2011, 12:16:00 AM »
Now that I am finished with it, here are some new photos of the first youth bow I made. We are giving this first one to a friend and I will be making my son another one. Just thought I would share the photos. We are going to call this bow Protege Longbow's "Little Hunter" and may introduce the model this summer. It is braced a little too high in these photos. This bow is 42" in length.

Until next time...good shooting,
Lee

Very nice!!!
An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

For NOW, my plan is to offer something along the following.

For a 42" bow, I plan on making them 10-15#@18"

For a 44" bow I will probably go 12-20#@20"

For a 46" bow, I will probably go 15-25#@22"

And, for a 48" bow I plan on going 20-35#@24"

I need to work out some details though, but I expect it will be something close to that. I need to make a few to figure out appropriate costs, as each bow will have fiberglass on both the back and belly and have 2 core laminations of wood or bamboo (one taperred and one parallel). The bows will come with a laminated riser (phenoic will be available but it obviously isn't necessary in such a light weight bow). Each bow will include tip overlays, a dynaflight bowstring, and a laced up leather grip as well. My goal with these bows would be to produce a very high quality youth bow. If my boy is going to shoot, he needs to shoot a bow made by Daddy of course...LOL.       :goldtooth:

It is this type of stuff I have to work out, and for that reason, I won't list them on my website until summer (June). Unfortunately, they are just a bit too wide for me to get two bows out of one glue up. And they are long enough that these little bows will still require two full sized pieces of fiberglass and core laminations.
Until next time...good shooting,
Lee
