My new target

I don't know if any of you guys have the same problem keeping good targets around like I do or not but I like to have one target that I can shoot broadheads at so I can see how they fly with my field points. My problem is I'm lucky if I can get them to last a year before they are shot to pieces and a good broadhead target is expensive. Awhile back there was a post one here with a link to a video where a guy built a sandbox to shoot in. I thought that looked like the way to go. So here's my version. I have right at $80 total in this thing with the sand and everything. That's about the price of a good broadhead target and I'm hoping it lasts five or six times as long at least.

Nice Bro! I like it and I'd consider building one myself. I get lots of snow and rain here in NE Ohio. How do you combat sand loss from snowmelt and rain? I assume you have to keep the sand moist to get it to stand/form up like that? I'd bet a 10 inch piece of 3/4 plywood with an open slot to slide in between shooting would hold most of it in.

Needs a 2X6 on the bottom front and I think is will be a winner. My version is a sandy creek bank.

Nice target!!
Just was wondering if it would be of value to add an extended low profile box section to contain the sand from pouring out the front.

I think you've solved a problem a lot of us have faced. I would probably cover it in the winter when not using it. Thanks for sharing a great idea!

My problem with putting a board across the front is that I'd end up hitting it all the time and ruining my arrows. I'm toying with the idea of building a simple roof over it to help keep the rain off and make it last longer. I'm afraid though that it would tend to make it always be in a shadow then so I'll have to see once. Thanks for the comments. If you are thinking about building one go for it it's not that hard and it works great.

Any cats around? Might end up being a kitty litter box! I know in my neighborhood that would be a problem. I'd have to put a cover over it when not in use. Looks good though.

I don't have to worry about cats. My two dogs will either chase them off or kill them!
