Broadhead recommendations

What broadhead would you recommend for a straight cut, 2-blade head that upon sharpening weighs in the neighborhood of 190-200 grains? I will be using them with Easton FMJ's.

Thanks to everyone for all the help you have already given a beginner in traditional archery. Also thanks to Tradgang.com for a website where traditional archers everywhere can get together to learn, trade, buy, and share with one another. I am fairly new to traditional archery but proud to have taken an interest in a sport and lifestyle that seems to attract nothing but top notch individuals.

Ace BH have  a 200 grn.,Eclipse 145 grn. combined with  75 grn. adapter maybe?. there are many quality BH and guys will give you a wide choice , good luck.

A 2 blade STOS 160 grain glue on broadhead glued to a 36 grain screw in Zwickey 11/32" long broadhead adapter or glued to a screw in 42 grain Magnus 11/32" long broadhead adapter will get you close to what you want.

Another good choice is a 2 blade glue on Tusker Concorde 155 grain broadhead glued to a screw in 36 grain 11/32" Zwickey long broadhead adapter.

With the choices above, you can get in the neighborhood of the 190-200 grains you want.

You could also use a 75 grain steel adaptor and any 125 grain broadhead that you like.There are a lot of ways to skin a cat.

Eclipse is coming out with some new screw in heads that look like they should be worth trying.  I believe they should have 150, 175 and 200 gr versions, hopefully they will be available in May.

Eclipse glue ons with heavy insert will do the trick.  I've found these heads to be very durable.  It does take a little effort to get a good edge, but they hold it well.

I like the Simmons Sharks.  Call them at 406-360-0159, leave a message and he will call you back.  Great customer service, ask him questions and he will make good recommendations.  Ask him about sharpening too, I use their Steel Master sharpener, it works great on knifes also.

Abowyer Brown Bear with titanium insert.  These things are incredible.  Strong, hold and edge like no other and I have shot them into my basement wall, concrete, and didn't even bend the tip.  They are easy to sharpen with some patients because the steel is hard and therefore you need to make more passess on the stone.

MOre information is the key.   What are you hunting and what's your setup.  I would not use a 2 blade for turkeys.  I like big holes.  So if you have some good KE I'd use an 1 1/2 inch head like a Magnus I.  They come in 135 and 160 plus you have to add the adaptor.  Now, let's say you don't have the KE, I'd pick a STOS.  It's narrower and has a long length.  Pretty hard to beat that for penetration.  COmes in about the same weight.

I have great success with 125 zwickey eskimos on 75 grain steel adapters.

I'm shooting a 45# Hoyt Buffalo, hunting whitetail deer, and pigs. I'm shooting some Easton 400 FMJ's and a 200 grain tip should make them spine just about right.

Maybe you already have but I would bareshaft tune it with field points before investing much money in broadheads.Every time I try to second guess what point weight a new bow or shaft will need,I get surprised.I did have a 45 lb bow (at my draw)and tuned it to some 400 Gold Tips but it took 250 grs total,up front.That doesn't mean your setup would need the same.They may be entirely different.

I would not use such a heavy head out of a 45# bow, but instead use the 130 grain Outback Supreme. You'll be impressed.

I like the Ribteks but but 160 and 190 are heavy enough for what I shoot....think I would use the 190 on aussie buffalo though but normally use just the 160 ribbies...  even bought some more straight from australia recently...and they were still cheaper than what were being sold in states.
