Stepping Back in Time
« on: April 10, 2011, 05:27:00 PM »
I recently moved to Michigan from Oregon and I have been a bow hunter for many years.  You can't be in the sport without knowing of the legendary Fred Bear, who came from Detroit.  Many years ago he was the first President of the Detroit Archers Club. This morning my wife and I took a drive there to learn a little more about it and to look it over.  I wanted to find a place where I can target shoot and where I can take my grandsons as they're learning to shoot bows as well.  I went into the club house and it was like stepping back in time, seeing all the Fred Bear memorabilia on display there and knowing that he had actually been a part of the place and shot his bows there.  It was a really neat experience.

Shot there off and on for several years. They usually have a pretty good 3-D set up there.I see you live in Livonia. Theres a very nice club nomore than 15-20 mineuts away in Plymouth. Western Wayne County Conservation association. Gun ranges, skeet, trap muzzzleloading and a pretty good archery setup, including monthly 3-D shoots. Stop by, they always welcome new members

No, no pictures.  It was really foggy that morning.  And Harmless, thanks for the info about the place in Plymouth.  That's practically next door to me!  At this stage of the game I'm so new to the area that I appreciate any info anyone wants to pass along to me.
