Sorry to hear about your dog, I know how it goes though.

My dog was bitten by a small diamond back rattler last weekend too. He spent the night in the animal hospital, took a vial of anti-venom, and still took a week for the swelling to go down and get back to normal. Mine is still recovering a week and a half later.

Good luck to your Beagle, I hope he gets well.
If you hunt with your kids when they are young, you won't be hunting all over for them when they are teenagers.

NO POISONOUS SNAKES HERE, BUT WE SEEM TO GET LOTS OF PORCUPINES; I'VE HAD MY DOGS  "DE-QUILLED" NUMEROUS TIMES;  ONE WAS SO FULL OF QUILLS I HAD HIM PUT DOWN - - I HATE TO KILL ANYTHING I'M NOT GONNA EAT, BUT PORKIES GET DISPATCHED ON SIGHT.

With copperheads benadryl should be given immediately after the bite and anti biotics are a good idea
