"sight window" sights from 3 rivers archery.

Anyone ever try those sights from 3rivers archery for traditional bows. There are no pins or markings. The way I understood it it seemed like a sight to improve your instinctive shooting. I could be wrong. I'm wondering if this would help a transition from sight shooting to instinctive. Or would it harm it?

The SRF? I tried one and if you are new to instinctive shooting they may be a good idea. I myself tried one and was kind of too set in my ways and did not like it. Shawn

I like to start newbies out with one for a while. It helps train the mind to see the gaps and relative positions of the bow and arrow.  As you begin to find those spots automatically, just take it off and away you go.

I also know some guys that hunt with them with great success.

It will really show you how good your form is.  I use one in the off season to embed proper form in my mind.  It is a great tool and i would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.  I will even put the SRF on my bow during the season if my confidence is low

I actually started shooting, back when I was 14, with sights on my bow, but I couldn't shoot worth a darn. THen my dad took the sights out and just left me with the window, and I did improve a little bit. Sounds like the same principle.

Well as soon AZ the tax man unfurls his pockets I'm looking to get what I can afford. I have heard good things about the samick sage and its set for a sight. I like the idea of improving on instinctive shooting rather than using a sight. if this is a path to do that I'm down. I'm not bagging on the compound guys, they could probably outshoot me any day, but I like the idea of sportsmanship. all those sights and extra parts seem like too much. at that point I'd use my rifle.

I shoot with a small sliver of duct tape on my riser. I stare at my target and in my peripheral vision it gives me an elevation marker. Really simple, really fast and very cheap. I carry tape in my survival pack when on long hunting trips so it peeling off is no worry but it hasn't peeled off in 2 months now anyway.

I have tried a lot of different techniques and just couldn't master the instinctive or gap method. Sights didn't feel right to me and made me shift my focus too much.

This has been the best option I have tried and after 4 years of shooting I am finally feeling confident. It even cured my target panic.

i tried one , can be great but you have to put your bow verticaly , not realy easy for hunting

if some one have a solution for that ???

I can shoot with my duct tape from all sorts of cants, even reverse. In fact the only position i cannot shoot from is vertical.

When you stare at your target your eye will automatically pick the spot where the arrow line and ducttape line meet. Hard to explain without drawing but let me try it...

If you were to draw a straight line up from the arrow and out from the duct tape that is the point of impact on target for me no matter what position I hold the bow as long as I have a cant too it.

Maybe it only works for me but give it a try you may be surprised.

I use a SRF "A" size lume sight occasionally. It can provide a bit more accuracy at greater range, and a few extra minutes of shooting in low light. I think it's a misnomer to say it's an aid for instinctive shooting. Like any sight, you have to adjust it for distance, then estimate what range you are shooting.

ordcorpdw...please keep us posted if you give the SRF a go? Would like to hear of your experience with the SRF and let us know how you progress as well as how well your transition  goes when switching from the SRF to no site aids.
