Are Trueflight Full length feathers thinner than precut?
« on: April 18, 2011, 03:55:00 PM »
Just got my first full length true flights.

I know the feathers aren't as good as they used to be but my golly.
These look like robin feathers in thickness.

Are the precut feathers thicker and better than the full length?

Thanks

The last 100 5-1/2 sheild cut I bought pretty much match your description.  They not near as durable. Definitely not what Trueflight used to be.

I know about the feathers getting worse.

I have some precut 5" shields that Were bought about 6 months ago. They were a lot thinner than years back.

This is the 1st time I have bought full length and they are 30% or so thinner than the new pre cut shields.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has noticed trueflight selling new full lengths that are even thinner than the new pre cut? As in maybe they sort out the best for them to cut and sell "2nds" at full length.

Thanks for the input

They are marketing some as flu flu ready full lengths that are supposed to be flexible to wrap a spiral. Did you get ahold of some of those by chance?

I don't think so.
They have a pretty thick and wide  base at the front.

I doubt if the place I bought them from would send me anything that wasn't right. They're respected and a sponsor.

Good thought though. I didn't realize those were out there.

Thanks!
