wrap ?

when you wrap a arrow does the wrap over lap a bit or does it just touch?. im thinking of doing a set of woods. theres a sign place up the road from me thought i could get some scraps and make my own. i think its 2.5 or 3 thick. im doing 11/32 wood. so will this stuff work? i measured the arrow with masking tape it comes out to 1 1/8 touching all the wraps i see are 1in. so how wide should i have it cut to?

You normally have about a 1mm overlap.

Those 1" wraps work on carbons,Onestringer is where I get my wraps from. They can make them in many different lengths and widths.I really like their Trad wraps with all the different patterns they have. They also have solid color and many others.

I've made some from scrap material I got from my local sign shop. What I did was use a post-it or a small piece of paper and experiment with the width until I got the overlap I wanted. Then I cut a few out to double check.Getting a square even cut will get you the best consistent results. Use a computer moose pad to lay the wrap on when you roll the shaft over it. They turned out great.
I have also bought some from Onestringer. They have the best prices and great customer service.

In my opinion, they should just touch and NOT overlap. They make wraps for both carbon and aluminum that are different widths to take into account the different size shafts. If you're cutting your own you can customize it to fit. Also, since you're doing wood, measure both ends of the shaft where the wrap will go, just to check if there is any taper to the shaft. Hope this helps.

Putting an arrow wrap on a woodie is like putting a speedo on a 400 pound European. Just wouldn' look right. Functional...Yes. Practical...Absolutely NOT.
Of course this is just my opinion, but I do believe there is a big echo effect with my opinion.

mine usually overlap just slightly. i cannot tell that the slight ridge formed by the overlap makes any difference at all. onestringer is the way to go.

I've used the red/white reflective tape they use on highway trucks and trailers. They have a tiny bit of overlap, and can be trimmed with exacto knife, but they look good and you can see them at night. I use fletch tape to put feathers on, and if necessary the feathers can be removed without damage to tape. Maxx

Overwrap just slightly, I shoot for .05" But then again it does not really matter. I can't shoot well enough to notice a difference.
