New Longbow Purchase Suggestions

The two I own are both great bows, Holm-made Osprey and Lost Creek Legend.

Of course the advice you've already been given is spot on, try as much as you can, and barring that do some buying and trading on the classifieds.  I found the Lost Creek on the classifieds and traded for it with a great tradganger.

The Super K is my favorite recurve, a very versatile bow.  If you are having success shooting it, I would bet you be happier with a Lost Creek or something similar than you would a Hill style bow.  then again if you are so inclined, do your research on Howard Hill and when you get the chance, try it. when you are familiar with the style you may like it. If you gravitate far from your current bow there are form changes that you may need to make to accommodate a longbow with a drastically different grip than the one that works for you with the Super K.

If you like the grip of a recurve and longbow limbs try a hybrid.
 St. Joe River Bows, Shrew, RER, Caddo, Bob Lee, Thunderstick are my favorites.

 If you like the straight grip D style bows try
a JavaMan, Northern Mist, Great Northern, Hill, Bronze Bows, Saxon.  

 The classic longbow may take some getting used to switching from a recurve but it could feel natural to you.

Contact Nate Steele at BamaBows.  I just got my Elite Classic (64" 40# @ 27") and it's both a beauty and a real shooter.  And I haven't even put the proper arrows through it yet.  Can't wait to see how it shoots then.

Wow guys thanks! looks like I have alot of research to do.. thats the fun part! and to answer a prvious question it will be mostly used for treestand hunting! I will be looking for 45# @ 27" draw.. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU ALL!!!!

DiStegano: I am pretty sure that this is the kind of longbow i am looking for. I like the shorter tip to tip but I dont want to lose performance.. Just so were on the same page.. An example of the above description would be Big Jims Thunder Child?

the smoothest and fastest longbows ive ever shot are john dills aneewakee addiction longbows. i shot a 6o pound one, and it felt like a 52 pound.  awesome bows, which from me is alot since im not a longbow guy! definately check em out.
