Blind?

For bowhunting out of a blind how important is the screen. Is it a must use or can you get away with out using the screen.

The screen helps mask movement inside the blind. I guess for some this is an important aspect. However, in my experiences it is not a necessary thing to use if your careful about and aware of your movement. I prefer not using the screen and treat movement the same as I would if in a tree stand. Works for me.

Depends.  No screen leaves a black hole, which seems to spook deer.  If you don't use a screen, definitely need to wear a camo head net or face paint.  Hand camo, too. Turkeys don't seem to mind looking into the black hole.  I use screens.  I think they permit one to get a way with a little more movement in the blind without being detected.

I've killed turkeys with and without a screen while using a blind. With a screen, you can get away with more movement inside the blind, as stated above.

Have someone sit in your blind and then compare what you can see in the blind with or without the screens.  In my experience; you can get away with more window space open with the screens and they don't affect arrow flight so I always use them.

I have a Double Bull recuve that has screens on the back side where the black curtin comes down, but none on the front holes. I have taken turkey from it but like many have said you need to be...I am very careful about my movement. In fact, I have passed up shoots because the turkey come in so close and seems to be looking straight at me.

I have never shot through a screen because I have been worried it would mess up the arrow flight. For those of you who have, any issues?

I love this DB but it is one heavy blind to haul around moving on Turkey...But I do it because I have not found anything that is lighter that works as well as my DB.

I have shot through my screens to the point of having to replace them.
To date, I can't blame them for the misses or the hits for that matter.
When you use a blind, the rules still apply.
When they are looking at the blind, stay still, when they divert their attention, make slow deliberate moves.

Have a Double Bull.Shooting through screen,I have noticed no problems with flight at all.However,for me anyway,in low light conditions the screen seems to mess with depth perception and seems "splotchy".May just be aging eyes.

You can always use the screens as an excuse if you miss! In case your hunting partner gives you a hard time.

I never use the screens. I only unzip what I need to shoot through and wear dark clothes. Keep movement to a minimum and you will be fine.

I have found that arrow flight through the screen is the same as the arrow flight through air.

I never use the screen in areas where I might have a shot, may not hurt arrow flight, but just don't feel comfortable doing it. I wear dark clothes and move purposfully like in treestand.

I have killed turkeys with and without the screen. With the screen up I feel like I could do jumping jacks in there, not literally, but the difference is big IMO. With the screen down I have gotten away with lots of movement unless the birds are very very close. Even when they are close if you move slow you'll be fine. The bigger the hole in the blind the more careful you need to be. I never paint my face or wear gloves and have killed several turkeys with a greyish colored jacket.

Deer are different. I definitely prefer the screen for deer, although I have killed a deer without it.

I have noticed no difference in arrow flight, but it jacks with my depth perception a little bit.

I tested my screens this year to see how much movement I could get away with. I had two hens within tens yards and I waved my hands serveral times. It didn't spook the hens at all. They were even looking at the blind. I was wearing a black shirt and facemask. Shot a test arrow throught the screen and was on the mark. I'm okay with shooting through the screen.
