Thanks for the help 'lads' - just ordered my new bow!!
« on: June 22, 2007, 12:07:00 AM »
I lot of you would have read my thread regarding finding the 'perfect bow'.  I took into consideration the different views and spent ages researching the various websites.

I ended up ordering an A&H for the three piece I wanted.  Nobody has gotten back to me yet - but I assume that will take forever to come.  Anyway - that is my long-term bow.

However I am pretty bored with my current bows at the moment - sort of like an old girlfriend that has gone sour.  I will get back to her one day but need some fresh 'honeys' for the here and now.

I skirted the big boys cause their wait times are too long.  Somebody on my thread suggested Turkey Creek.  After reading all the old threads and ringing the States and talking to Doug - I payed  my deposit on Paypal.

It is only about five weeks away - so even for am impatient coot like me - that's ok.

She is 64" double carbon 41# with bow bolt (makes the postage to Australia cheaper).  I can't decide on the riser timber yet but have a few weeks to mull it over.  I don't have any decisions to make on the limbs cause she is just black carbon.  I have no black limb bows yet - so this will be a new experience.

Thanks for all of you who chimed in with loads of helpfull info and for keeping it friendly.

Great choice Sutto--Doug makes a really nice bow.  It's actually the bow that has made me think twice about carbon limbs vs. glass.

Although limited, my experience with carbon limbed bows hasn't been that great, until I shot a few of Doug's bows.  I still prefer the feel of glass vs. carbon, but to date Doug makes the sweetest carbon limbed bow I've shot or even drawn.

On the riser wood, you might consider the black/yellow actionwood--looks like a yellowjacket or hornet.  He had one at the Howard Hill shoot recently--very sharp looking bow, especially with black limbs.

I think you have made an excellent choice. I don't own one, but I shot some of Doug's bows at the Flatrock shoot in Missouri and I was very impressed....Terry
