Our order form has not yet been updated, but we are now offering very thin limb veniers of bocote and osage that can be used in conjunction with ourt standard bamboo or edge grain red elm limb cores. Additional veniers are available as well, but we will stock the bocote and osage. These non-corewood veniers are kept to a minimal thickness (0.020" to 0.030") as to not impede with the bow's performance.

Bocote veniers can be added to the back of our Hunter model and to the belly of our Hunter, Competition, and Diamondback models.

Osage is a high compression, high resilient, but heavy wood we will not use it on the back but we will use it on the belly as there are better choices for the back of a bow. It offers good characteristics for such use though, we will now offer it in veniers of 0.020-0.030" on the belly of our Hunter, Competition, or Diamondback models.

UPDATE - (Edited to add) We will also include the option of using flat grain red elm or zebra wood as limb venier options as well (both are now available for back and/or belly veniers)

On the Hunter model...one can do either the back or the belly for $50...or both back and belly for $80. These veniers are going to be 0.020" - 0.030" in thickness so I probably won't reduce the number of core laminations in the bow unless one does BOTH the back and the belly. On the Competition model, while I will offer a venier on the belly ($50), I will not offer the venier on the back side (doing so would make a Carbon Hunter anyway). I want our "Competition model" to remain a no nonsense...maximum performance bow...even though the difference between a Carbon Hunter and a Competition would be minimal (if anything at all)...I plan on keeping it that way. The difference between a Carbon Hunter and a Competition would only be 0.020"-0.030" venier between the back fiberglass and the carbon, which would be a minimal difference and most likely not even noticeable; however, the fact remains that carbon  is MOST beneficial when it is as close to the back as possible. All the Competitions will be black glass directly over carbon for the MAXIMUM benefit of the carbon.

The venier options will include flat grain red elm and zebra wood as well. While the cores will remain either bamboo or edge grain red elm, for those that like the beauty of natural materials, they can now choose to see either...

1. Bamboo (core and/or veniers),
2. Edge grain red elm (core and/or veniers),
3. Flat grain red elm (back and/or belly veniers only),
4. Bocote (back and/or belly veniers only),
5. Zebra wood (back and/or belly veniers only), or
6. Osage - (belly veniers only).
