Anyone know what GT 34/55 weigh?
« on: May 03, 2011, 10:23:00 PM »
I have been shooting GT 35/55 cut to 28 1/4" bop with 125 gr head, alluminum insert.  I do not have a scale but I am wandering what this setup's gpi might be?
by the way, I'm shooting a 64" Hoyt Expert 40# @28"...My draw is 27"

Any suggestions are welcome if you guys know of a better arrow setup.

Thanks
Jeremy

I'll bet that if you put a 200gr point on that arrow you're going to have a stiff arrow.

I'd go with 1535GTs with a 200gr tip for starters and tweak from there.

30 1/2" Inch long(full length)  GT 35/55 XT Hunter (camo) arrows weigh 385 grains with a 125 grain point, 7 inch wrap and three 5 inch feathers. I can shoot this arrow in my 42lb @28" recurve thats cut 3/16" past center, I draw 26 1/2". I think your right at 10 gpp

And also go full length to help lower the spine of the arrow. Then maybe a 145/175gr tip.

I agree with BWD that arrow should weigh around 400 - 405gr. but their going to be stiff out of that bow.

I shoot those 35/55's full length with 3X5" feathers, 125gr. point, 1" aluminum footer & 20gr extra weight insert for those to spine right out of my 47 & 49# recurves & they weigh around 446gr.

The 15/35's may be a better suited arrow for you with that weight of bow.
Zona Custom Recurve: 60" 49# @ 27.5".
Sky Sky Hawk Recurve: 60" 47# @ 27.5".
Genesis 27:3 Now therefore, please take thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and hunt game for me.

Thanks for all the replies. it sounds like I need to switch to the 15/35s and heavier point weight.

Yeah, 15/35s are 600 spine and should really put you in the ballpark. Pup

My current setup is 1535 full length with three natural 5" shield cut feathers and a 125gr point out of my 40#@28" RD longbow cut to center at the shelf. I draw around 29" and these arrows zip out of the LB. They do start to drop significantly at around 30 yards but I limit my hunting range to well under 20 anyway.

You might get away with a 145gr tip drawing a shorter draw.
