4 fletch and axis shafts
« on: June 23, 2007, 12:31:00 AM »
Any one fletch their axis or beamen MFXX shaft with a 4 fletch pattern?  I really like the way the 75 x 105 pattern flys.  I fletch up some 2020 this way with 4" LW feathers, but I'm concerned if there is enough room on an axis shaft.  I'm out of 4" feather and I want to be sure before I buy more.  If there is not enouh room for the 4 fletch pattern, I might go to the Carbon Express shafts.

I've been fletching my Axis and Beman shafts w/ (4) 5 1/2" bananas for the past 2 1/2 years.  I think I can actually reduce size to a 4 inch banana though.  I won't have my arrows any other way...do't be intimidated by the skinny shaft, theres plenty of room to put four feathers.  I also use a helical twist.  Use a good jig and fletch tape (I use the Jo-Jan).

I also been using four five inch and four four inch feathers on both my axis and beman shafts with no problems.  I'm sold on the four inch four fletch right now.  I've been using the 90x90 pattern with a right wing helical.

I've been using 4" X 4 on the Beman MFX shafts for a while.  No problems.

Thank a million guys!!  That is just the answer I was hoping for.  Now I need to buy a chopper (4" shield cut) and some full length feather.  I really like these Beman MFX shafts and did not want to switch, as I have a beman tune for each of my bows.
