Hey to all , hope all are getting some shooting in done in the woods since the rain quit here, anyway, I picked up a Hoyt Buffalo last week, and wondered if anyone has shot wood or carbons off of the riser on it..looks like it might be designed more for carbons than anything else...spent over an hour trying diff spines/shafts to fly out of it...gettin real frustrated....any help appreciated..
62 inch bow..45 lb limbs, 30.5 inch draw, shooting 3 fingers under...

jshort, thanks for input, I was able to get 2117 xx75 to fly out of it pretty good, I went ahead and set brace height at 8 1/4...top tiller out 1/4 more than bottom, got rid of shelf material hoyt provided and went with the stuff i use on my assenheimer, then added a set of "yarn" silencers...HUGE DIFFERENCE...thanks again for help!!..
ANY IDEA WHY FRED EICHLER SHOOTS COCK FEATHER IN?

Half the guys on Tradgang shoot cock feather in, including myself. I've always found I got better flight.

I have a 45# 62" Buffalo but only draw 27.5" so I'm getting great flight out of GT1535s, 28.5", 50gr. inserts, 125gr heads, 3-5" helical fletch. They fly like darts. The limbs are cranked all the way in so the bow is probably several pounds heavier.
Mayby try GT3555s, 29", 50 gr inserts, 145 gr heads. That's what I shoot out of my 50" bows.
I have similar brace height and tiller, woolies on string. I put deer skin pads on the limbs and sockets where limb meets metal. Very quiet.

The Buffallo was designed specifically designed to shoot off of the shelf unlike the durado or gamemaster. I think that you can adjust tiller and such on that bow so follow the instructions and make sure it is set for 3 under. I should be fairly forgiving to spine. jshort you don't have to have a bow way past center to shoot wood arrows. Actually I find that on bows cut before center that wood is easier to get to shoot bullet holes than carbons. I would try some 340's full length with 125 or 145 heads.

Saddletramp: Most folks who shoot three under shoot neutral tiller on their bows if they can be adjusted to that. The more positive tiller, the more the top limb is weakened in relation to the bottom limb. Given that the three under position pulls/flexes the bottom limb even further (in comparison to a split finger release) it has the effect of making the bottom limb stronger yet vis-a-vis the top imb. In short, a positive tiller for three under shooting tends to unbalance the limb recovery. That's why folks often need to nock higher for three under. To take a little more pressure/weight off the lower limb.Good luck.

i dont know why eichler shoot cock feather in, but i get better flight with cock feather in using rw feathers on a rh bow. I think most of my flight problem is due to my release but when i turn them in they fly like darts and when i dont they porpoise most of the time like they are nock high.
I tried adjusting every which way to no avail until i put a string nock under my index finger and turned them cock feather in.

Feather in , lets the bowhunter know when he is at full draw, when that feather reaches at part of his body, like his noise, to know he is at full draw...thats what i think....marco#78..its hot
