anybody ever tried making arrows from dymondwood?

Hi,
Anybody made or seen arrows made from stratabond, dymonwood, superaction wood etc?
Thought it might make a pretty arrow.
I imagine it would be about the same as the laminated birch shafting available...just with color.
Might look neat with tapered shafts...???

Sounds like a good idea.
Never thought of that.

It has been done. I believe the 8th Drawfs arrows he shot his Cape Buffalo with were dymonwood.

I've never done it but have seen them. They are heavy and durable. If I am not mistaken you can get a pretty stiff spine and have a skinny arrow. The ones I saw years ago reminded me of compressed cedar in terms of their weight, spine and diameter.

We used to have one down at the house on our lease, I don't kow who left it there, but a lot of famous bowhunters visited that place. Everytime I went down there I straightened that arrow and I know a lot of others did as well, but everytime I went back that shaft was bent like a boomerang.

I had seen some that Jim Brackenbury had messed with years ago, he used lots actionwood so had plenty around to play with, as Rick said it wasnt the straightest shaft around but boy were they heavy.

Where do you usually find Dymondwood trees.
