Shoulderbag, haversack, possibles bag users?
« on: May 29, 2011, 05:03:00 PM »
Hello,

I have question for all shoulder bag, haversack....users. Could you write down dimensions of your bags and describe what you carry inside the bag. Do you have some troubles to shoot the bow with shoulder bag on?

If you have some photos , you are welcome to share them with us!

Regards!

Luka

My wife and I made this one. I carry my hunting license/tags, compass, extra string, string wax, deer lure, munchies, knife, flash light, sharpener...etc. Just about anything for a day in the field. Does not get in the way of my shooting either. Made from all period correct material.

I use two tied together in the back and they carry plenty of stuff for an all day adventure.

These are some kind of Army surplus bag I could`nt tell you what they were used for...
I carry a meatsack with a couple plastic garbage bags for meat with a skinning knife, two small but good flashlights, gps, small plastic medicine bottle full of bright eye tacks, extra string for my bow, lighter, small piece of string maybe ten feet long for blind making or hanging a small grill pig for skinning, thermacell hooked on one strap, I carry three bottles of water in the summer, my camera, bug spray,Bible, extra compass also have one around my neck, extra glove for shooting, and a small container with asprin or such in it. I think thats all. Also can fit a snack in it as well. Recently installed some webbed shoulder straps for comfort not shown in pic. RC

Forgot to add each pac is diveded in two parts.Leaves my back open for a tree stand and my meatsack is a small thin backpack that is a breeze to carry. Using this instead of a backpack for gear works well because it does not get my back hot in the summer.

This is the meatsack I carry in one of the pockets. It will hold a boned out Southern deer. This was taken near two miles in the swamp.RC

I have the Traditional Archers Possible bag from 3Rivers.Measures approximately 9 1/2" x 9". wouldn't mind it being a bit larger but I carry just what I need for the day i.e. binoculars, gloves, turkey call, pruning shears, fire starting kit. Depends on what's going on in the woods that day.  I'll use a carabiner to snap a thermos onto the metal rings of the possible bag. No issues shooting with it. I often sling it and push the bag all way round until it rests on my buttocks rather than my hip.

Jon, I have the gas mask bag too....used it for a long time, then went to a fanny pack and last year got myself a Bison Gear haversack and love that--holds a bit more than the gas mask bag.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I don't have any pictures but do a quick google for

"Czech canvas bread bag"

they're perfect I think. Washable, just the right size, internal pockets and dirt cheap.
