Which seems to be more effective, the spray or the balm? The spray is 4oz. and the balm is 2oz. which is the better buy?

My wife buys supplements from Vitacost.com and found the Badger anti-bug balm there (good prices).

(Personally, for hunting I really like the Thermacell.)

100% deet works great, but it's greasy and can irritate the skin. I've been using a Thermacell now since '07.

Is there anywhere you can buy the thermacell for less than $20 and cheaper than $20 refills?  Some might call me cheap, to me though,  I'm all about value.

What's the best tick repellent? I've stump shot once this summer and had well over 30 ticks on me...

Snakebit40... Permanone is what you want for ticks. Treat your clothes with it, let dry, ticks won't even get near you. Guaranteed!!!! Will last several weeks or a couple of washings.

I don't use repellent sprays or liquids since finding out about Thermacell... thanks Terry!
I'm not wild about price and therefore have been looking at the new Off product that is supposed to work the same way. No experience with it yet.

REI carries the Sawyer's Permethrin spray for treating clothing & gear. Just picked up a bottle to get ready for the swamp this weekend.

100% Deet does work but it also will take the finish right off your bow or arrows.

Bass Pro Shop, Target, Online...these are just a few places.  Figure spending $20 for the unit, and $20 on refills.  I'm still searching for a cheaper supplier.

Off makes their own version of the Thermacell, but it states on their website that breathing the vapors is harmful to your health.   Thanks for the warning, I will now not buy your product.  If it is harmful to inhale it, why would I want to sit in a cloud of it?

I can't find the same disclosure on the Thermacell product.  Maybe they just don't advertise it.

I agree with Terry and the other guys about the Thermocell.  I have been using ever since they came on the market. Ticks Permanone works the best. RJ
