shaft wear help
« on: June 21, 2011, 01:39:00 AM »
Im getting alot of wear on my beman mfx arrows.  Its happening on the area of the shaft thats touching the shelf when I'm at full draw.  First of all my arrows are flying like bullets, broadheads and field points are hitting together.  So I hate to go messing with things but this wear is turning into an actual flat spot on the shaft that I can feel.  I shoot 3under, nock point is 5/8, brace height is 7 1/2, 250 grains up front.
Anybody experienced this?

Is it on the bottom or side of the shaft mate I have never seen that type of wear on a shaft.

The wear is on the bottom of the shaft.  Its happening in the area thats touching the shelf when I'm at full draw.
Its kinda hard to see the white area on the leather shelf but thats where its rubbing.  I put a green line above the area.

Could it be a lump of hard glue on the shelf under the hairs?
Thanks for your time.

I would switch from the leather shelf to velcro or a rug rest

I think it must be something to do with how you grip the bow or the string for there to be so much pressure pushing the arrow down hard enough to do that.Hard to say with out seeing you shoot though.

Raise noch point. Your arrows do not appear to be clearing the top of the outer edge of your shelf.

You can try a Feather Rest too!
