Bareshaft Testing Slighty Stiff oe Slightly Soft

I am big into bareshaft testing

If ya had to choose between an arrow that was slightly stiff or slightly soft both flew very well with fletching what would you choose

Probably slightly soft so that I can get the best flight if I short draw a bit in a hunting situation.

Slightly soft for me.

Although, I have had communications from great archers across the pond that prefer slightly stiff.

Seems I am able to discern a little more forgiveness in my own shooting by biasing the soft side. Having said this, BH flight is my determining factor.

I prefer slightly soft, since I can cut them or decrease the brace height a little bit to put them in tune. If they are too stiff, I cannot make them longer, and I don't like to increase the brace height too much.

Slightly stiff with field points seems to give me the best BH flight..

I tune my bows for hunting to be slightly weak in spine and they seem to clear the riser better and are more forgiven. Stiffer arrows are not as forgiven and if you short draw or snap shoot they will not be as consistent.

I like them a little weak the fletching will make them act stiffer. I tune with a FP that is 25g heavier than my BH to account for the longer BH arrow.

Slightly heavy because that puts my wiggle room into more weight up front instead of less. And a longer arrow which is easier to shorten than to lengthen.

Soft shooting split, and I can go a little stiff to a little soft 3 under.  If I get too stiff split I am more likely to have shelf rubs. For some reason this is never a problem for me shooting 3 under, and I can tune them to shoot like bullets.  I also think I am most likely to short draw a little than to over draw when in a hunting situation shooting broadheads so a little soft gives me more room for error without going way to stiff and getting a bad shot due to spine.

Slightly weak in a bareshaft, fletching stiffens them slightly as does a broadhead due to increasing the length. Always slightly weak and most of the archers I know prefer them weak when bareshafting. Shawn

I choose slightly weak when buying arrow shafts.

That is, slightly weak AFTER I have high FOC figured in. If you should choose a slightly weak arrow and it turns out to be too weak, you can always build out the strike plate on the side of your shelf to cause the arrow to act stiffer.
