Anyone else?  Juniper or Mora seem to be the limb choices but I have seen some nice dark myrtle that I really liked.

Thanks, thanks and did I say Thanks??

Tom, I am still on the road coming back from vacation and don't have access to pictures untill tomorrow but Dan sometimes has dark Zebrawood that is really something else. I have a Macassar Ebony/Zebrawood Super D that is the thousandth bow out of Dan's shop. It is numbered as such and has Sheep Horn on the overlays and limb tips and has Dan's name on it. To use a worn out phrase it "shoots better than it looks" but if you glance very long it actually looks every bit as good as it shoots! I will try to get some pics up tomorrow.

Dark woods are nice, macasser ebony, cocobolo,  hard as nails too. Tan woods, not light colored, are eye pleasing as well, goncolo alves, osage, myrtle.
Some where between the two would be a a nice figured Bacote riser with some darker fiddleback Myrtle. My Toelke Chinook had that combo, if you put it down on the forest floor you had better remember where you placed it!! Like a viper waiting to strike... invisable!!   :bigsmyl:

These Toelke Whips are shooters! Great grips, smooth even drawing and all the way through the shot! Great bows!

Here's my 60" T/D with Juniper vaneers.  Amazingly light, silent, and just spits tacks.  Will have a 64" Whip T/D one week from now.  Dan seems to be pretty stocked up with myrtle right now and he really pushed that for vaneers.  Not sure if I prefer them over the juniper at this point.  Will see.

Nice looking woods Keith.  One of those take downs is on my wish list for the future.

There isn't a bad picture of any of the Toelke bows that I have seen.  I had talked to Dan last week about some nice ebony and dark myrtle that he had recent received.  I asked him for pictures of the woods and expected that he was going to send pictures of the veneers planed off the larger blocks.  About a week later I receive pictures of a complete bow which was apparently produced from those woods (waiting for confirmation).  That Tempter is trying to tempt me and durn if it ain't working pretty well.  She is beautiful and may be mine??  After I see what's left after the bills are paid tomorrow, I will be calling Mr. Toelke.  I believe that my wife may be tired of me walking around with this glazed look on my face, just waiting to order my new bow!

Again, THANK YOU to all who responded with pics and positive vibes.  You guys...are my bow brudders.  I appreciate the support while I am further encouraging my addiction!!

You won't be dissapointed with Dan's longbows.

If I ever give up hunting the Shafer, it'll be for a Whip.

This is a demo Lynx that I almost bought at a smoking deal from Dan.  Turns out at my draw length the LB limbs were only 50.3lbs.  Although a good deal I wasn't willing to buy something too light for that kind of coinage.  So the reason I posted a Lynx in a Whip thread is to show how cool some of the myrtle is he's using for lams right now.  Nicely matched limbs I thought.  Hope my Whip looks like this.  I know he's using some black linen macarta in the riser just not sure how much.  Eyecandy by Dan Toelke!

You ain't even  kiddin' Mr. Chrome!  Eye-candy four shoer.  I almost dread the idea of taking my bow (uh, when I get it into my hands) into the woods.  But on the other hand, that is precisely my intention and it will be a beautiful thing!  Can't wait.  Custom Stick?  It will be my first and if I bring home venison with it. as before, might have to pry the big dumb smile from my face.  but I will take that chance.

That myrtle is special stuff.  Hope to be posting pics soon!

Since 1999 until this past fedruary my # 1 bow was aq R/D bow similar in prfile to the whip.  It was 74# at 28"  I bought a classic whip from Dan 64# @ 28". It shoots the same arrows just as fast as the very fine bow 10# heavier.  Can't    go wrong with a whip!
