Congrats Mark.  It is a good accounting of our trials and tribulations of trying to achieve a decent nap...and bagging your bull in our spare time.  :readit:
Thanks for the photo credits. I hope they do justice to your story.  Hey...didn't I take that avatar photo too.  :saywhat:
I can't say enough about Mark as a friend and hunting partner.  His enthusiasm for the traditional hunt is second to none, and he has a way of putting it all together in the written word.  :campfire:
Now, on to the quest for a bighorn article.

Nice article, and I, too, enjoy your posts and pics. Along with archery practice, does this mean I have to practice taking mid-day naps, too? I'd hate to be unprepared... Thanks for taking us along. Is it too early to start packing?

Just got done reading the story Mark, congrats on a job well done! I am looking forward to sneaking in some of those afternoon naps on my hunt this September for sure. Good luck on your sheep hunt!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

How long after you submit an article do you find out if it is going to be published or not?

It is best to send Don Thomas an inquiry as to what you plan to write and find out if there is interest--they may have several on that subject on file already as they plan pretty far ahead.  If you submit an article, it does not take long to learn if they can use it.  If they decide to accept it they will send you a contract right away.  If you go to the magazine's web site you will find guidelines for writers.  Be sure to follow those.  Photo support is also important.  Good pictures are wanted to accompany your article....these are best submitted on a disc.

Just read your Nap piece, well done, I'll be going out for opening week for my first Elk hunt. Looking forward to a nap in the high country!

Cherokee Scout, David pretty much answered your question but if they decide to use it it can be awhile before it is actually published.  That hunt was almost 2 years ago but I think they wanted in the issue nearing elk season.  Andrew, the bow is working out fine and the shoot was great.  Terry, my avatar pic is what my first TBM article was about and I have to agree that is a nice buck.

Mark - I enjoyed the article, congrats on the bull (always best to wait till the last moment anyway) - I always think if I take a nap, animals are walking by, so I rarely do it. Hope next year you get some better weather and more napping in!
