I drill a hole from one side to the other of a feild point and fit a nail through it. Cut it off with about 1/4" sticking out each side and bend the ends back just a bit to keep it from falling out. If you want to target shoot, just remove the nail and replace later. I'm frugal!
I started doing that after arrowing two grouse while deer hunting and had complete pass throughs with field tips and the birds flew away! Have also shot them with broad heads, but hate to commit a broad head to a bird.
Did I mention that I'm frugal?

for shooting on the wing I lick a blunt style or broad head (blunts only when with dogs) the judos kock them sidways in the air but not much penitration because how easy they are to move. I have shot them with judo befor to have them carry them off. blunt or broadhead they may fly a little yet but I have been able to recover all.

Wow, Terry, those look wicked. Just brazed together? Do you use flu-flu's or regular fletch arrows?
I used to make my own snare-O's that worked good once I modified them so they were only about 4" in diameter. Much bigger than that and there is way too much drag through the air.

Just a series of tinkering....and some hi grade epoxy.
We are still trying to perfect the perfect pheasant head.

Terry, I've been thinking of doing some similar heads like that. Do they fly well? I'm guessing by the pheasant pic that they do! What kind of epoxy, and how well do they hold up on misses?

We had some old 4 blade bodkins that dove down adn left at about 15 feet...we trashed those...the steel force with the aluminum additions flew great....you gotta experiment...and see how they fly.
Just don't make too many of one kind...make one and see how it flies...if it flies...have at it!
