Whats the matter Joe, you don't like paying more and getting less........or share'n your season with guys with guns. It's sad, and your right.....not good!

Please write to Gov. Cuomo, Assemblyman Robert Sweeney, Senator Mark Grisanti and DEC to voice your displeasure, if you haven't already.  Also, please respond to DEC from their website.  I told my wife about this.  She does not hunt, but we often go camping and hiking over Columbus Day week-end, sometimes with students from her high school science club.  She wasn't too keen on sharing the woods with youths carrying shot guns and rifles.

I am also concerned with losing my archery and muzzleloader tags.  I purchased a lifetime license with archery and muzzleloader tags a couple years ago before the price increases.  It's unacceptable if they take those away, too.  As far as the youth hunt, we already gave up the last week-end of southern zone archery for the early gun opener, which was supposed to get more kids interested.

Thanks Walt but I also have the letters as I'm a Booster to NYB. I also made copies and distributed them around to the local archery shops.

The bad part is, even with E-Mails, letters and phone calls the folks who are elected to represent us don't care what we think and the powers to be in DEC apparently don't have a clue. Why isn't the gun season ever attacked.

If you want to get the kids involved lower the big-game age to 8 or ten like a lot of other states. They pass a test, they can hunt with a responsible adult and keep the same gun openers. I am tired of giving up our seasons(archery) for some other stupid cause! Shawn

The more you read into this the worse it gets. I hope all bowhunters work together to keep this out. I think we are fighting an uphill battle. I can't believe they could not honor the lifetime stamps that were purchased. but.......

PLEASE don't just let this happen. A gun season in the middle of bow season will really ruin the season esp. the rut. Write, call, email. NYB did a nice job of running the ALERT mailing. Don't take this laying down!!!

There has been a lot of activity with this DEC proposal.  It is bad for everyone, but really bad for bowhunters.  In a nut shell, it boils down to a one buck year, and if you do not have a DMAP, that's it.  The youth weekend, wasn't that what the new Saturday opener was for, when the archery season was shortened?  How soon we forget.  This really bad, and really ugly.

Bringing to the top.  We cannot lose sight of this, New Yorkers must respond and show your dissatisfaction with this plan.

The DEC is working for just one thing ( get more money in thru changes ) so they can safeguard there own jobs. You also will see crossbows back on the front burner by next year with the useage being for the bow season. The only good thing for me was the opening of the season on Oct 1.
I sure do not like the gun hunt in the middle of bow for youth and or any BP in the middle of the archery season. You already have the rabbit and bird hunters out there. I think the lowering of the age to hunt was a good thing, but why a special hunt is needed, I sure do not see this.
