First Widow
« on: July 03, 2011, 09:31:00 PM »
Well, I done it.
Received my first Black Widow bow on Friday. It's a PCH III. I think it's beautiful, but I probably won't be posting any pics 'cause there's no pretty exotic woods. I'm glad to be in the Widow club, it's everything I expected.

PCH III, 60 inch, 47 @ 29.5 draw. Seems very accurate. (at least as accurate as I am)

First thing I did is install a Bear Weahtherest. I can follow the arrow all the way to the target and they seem very straight, even though I suspected that the CE Rebels might be a touch underspined.
I decided on the rest after reading many posts in the history about elevated rests vs the shelf. Impact in my block target doesn't show any tail left which would indicate weak.

The riser on my PCH is very slim and sleek in comparison to the PSA's I've shot in the past. Enough mass weight but not too heavy.

To be honest, a couple rough spots in the tip sanding. Not sure if I should call the Widow boys about it or not.

All in all, glad to be in the Widow club. This will be my one and only bow from now on.

the brown truck done me good.

I love my PCH, congrats on yours!!!

If you think there is a problem in the workmanship, I think you should let them know. They cost too much to be flawed out of the box. I think they will be happy to take care of you, they have always been very nice to me. However, I have never had a problem with any of their bows, so I would say it is a rare issue.

Let us know what you do.

LOL---your one and only bow---for now maybe--but your bow will tell you how lonely it is and that it needs a friend---so you better start saving your pennies. Then the cycle will be repeated and you will be having more fun than you ever imagined that you could have. Enjoy yor PCH and have fun.

I really like mine, too. No exotics, just Autumn Oak and no phenolic-- CH III. I don't think the eye candy makes much difference to the shooting qualities of a Widow. Maybe bamboo cores would, but otherwise....enjoy and congratulations.  :clapper:

Thanks for the congrats guys! I shot it all long weekend and I'm thrilled with the bow. Not sure what all the "noisy" comments I've heard are about concerning Widows, a couple whiskers and all I hear is a low dull thump, not noisy at all. And I'm used to hearing my LC which is silent.

I got the Asbell grip, took a chance without actually trying one before and I really like it. Good palm swell but not too much, very comfy.

The "rough spots" in the tip sanding are really minimal, I can just feel them with my fingertips and not see them at all. They aren't in the string grooves but in the land area just adjacent to them I was just concerned about the integrity of the finish there and possible water penetration. Don't really think it's a problem. I went over that bow with a fine tooth comb and that's all I could come up with. The rest of the whole bow is freaking flawless.

I appreciate The Elf's comment about it being my "one and only" from now on, but I have an effective oversight committee (the wife). She's the best for allowing this Widow in the house!

Can I start a "Love my Widow" Club? LOL!

Here's a pic of the Autumn Oak riser.

It's beautiful to me!

Thats a beauty no exotics needed, enjoy it.  If its going to bug you send it back for them to finish it and sand up the tip!  It wasnt cheap thats for sure.
More bows than I should have!
